    Associate Justice Arjun Patel

    patelah5@vcu.edu

Arjun Patel is a Forensic Science Major student with a concentration in Biology and Pre-Medicine. An aspiring surgeon, Arjun is also a student in the VCU Honors College Guaranteed-Admission Program in Medicine (GMed) and is currently maintaining a 4.0 grade-point average. Arjun was confirmed to the position of Associate Justice during the Spring semester of his second year at VCU and has since learned a great deal not only about his branch of the Student Government Association but about the Legislative and Executive branches as well and how vital the prevalence of cooperation and collaboration is between the three as an operational unit to ensure an efficient and effective government that truly caters to its student body. Although he was initially interested in becoming a Senator for the SGA, Arjun felt that the individual requirements of the position of Associate Justice truly reflected the types of personal and social characteristics he would need to further develop in himself to be successful as a future physician. This clear opportunity for personal growth while giving back to his university greatly appealed to him, and led him to make his decision to become a part of the Judicial Branch. Outside of class and the SGA, Arjun is involved in biological research at the Trani Life Sciences building with Dr. Amanda Dickinson, PhD, where he studies the cellular basis of embryological oro-facial development.
